In January of 1973 I arrived in Emporia from Camillus, N.Y. with a pink Carmen Ghia ,a clown shirt, and a desire to be Michelangelo. Rex Hall became my adviser following my first visit with him. After a Rex painting demonstration, day one of Painting 1, I began trying new ways to push the paint. My natural inclination of working toward a conventional Surrealism and an very early attraction to Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollack eventually blended together in southwest Lyon county.
